“We are a SEN secondary school and use ClassHug primarily during off-site educational visits. Trip leaders will attach trackers to pupils with the potential to abscond or wander off. High risk pupils will have a high staff provision and ClassHug will act as a safety net, should human error occur and the pupil manages to separate themselves from the group. Staff are immediately alerted and can bring the pupil back to a safe distance. ClassHug is also used during visits with larger amounts of more able pupils. Here most if not all pupils will have a tracker attached and the trip leader can ensure that their entire group is with them. An example could be a group in the museum where a pupil stops to read a display whilst the rest of the group continue on; the staff will be alerted and can stop and wait for the pupil before they can no longer find the group. There is the intention to trial ClassHug being used on site for pupils who abscond from lessons and hide around site. Staff can navigate around the school and know they are close when the pupil becomes back “in range”. It helps narrow down a pupils position without wasting time circulating around the school.
The service we have received from ClassHug staff has been excellent. Everyone has been friendly and most importantly reachable. Questions have been answered quickly with advice taking into account our best interests rather than making more money from us. Replacement trackers are replaced with ease and speed. Staff are open to suggestions and want to develop their product and services.”
